Announcing the Shakespeare in the Cannery 2015 Cast
Shakespeare in the Cannery introduces the stellar cast of Twelfth Night. The star-crossed lovers from the 2014 season, Romeo and Juliet, get a comedic respite in this new endeavor by Director, David Lear. Fans will enjoy seeing Carmen Mitchellas Viola and Kot Takahashi as Sebastian, playing twin siblings in this delightful comedy. The actors were exceptional as Romeo and Juliet in the famous tragedy as the audience was wooed by their forlorn love in the inaugural season. Lear explains, "This year we want the audience to leave laughing. Last year, they left sad when we did Romeo & Juliet."
Twelfth Night features inter-twisting plots and subplots including Olivia, portrayed by Dana Scott, falling in love with Viola who is disguised as a young man, meanwhile Sebastian falls in love with Olivia. Secretly, Viola dons a male persona in order to work for Orsino played by Jason Soares. Antonio, a sea captain, (David O'Connell), helps his friend Sebastian while they journey through the land of Illyria.
Veteran actor, Alan Kaplan joins the cast as Olivia's pompous attendant, Malvolio. (Note: he embodied the role of the Friar in Shakespeare in the Cannery's Romeo and Juliet.) An act of comedic revenge unfolds directed at Malvolio and plotted by the following characters: Sir Toby Belch (Clark Miller), Sir Andrew Aguecheek (Brian Abbott), Fabian (Chuck Starzenski), Maria (Saskia Baur), Faste (Brandon Wilson) and Feste, (Haley Bartels). Shakespeare in the Cannery's ensemble for Twelfth Night is rounded out with roles by Ron Smith, Emma Hill, Laura Millar, andBill Chaplin.
